The Cultural Summit is an event for artists, creative industry professionals, cultural organizations, students, volunteers and culture lovers to network and learn more about culture in Richmond Hill.

The evening will feature an update on the Richmond Hill Cultural Plan, performances by local artists, the premiere of the 2017 Celebrated Stories film project and more!

Performances by Local Artists
The 2017 lineup is a great sample of the talent Richmond Hill has to offer. The Cultural Summit will feature performances by Arts Mackenzie, Hasheel Lodhia, the Curtain Club, Jessica Tse, and the Hill Chamber Players.

Spotlight Richmond Hill, Celebrating Local Success Stories
Three Richmond Hill-based artists whose projects have enhanced cultural activity in the community will share their stories at the Summit. Spotlight Richmond Hill talks will be delivered by local artist Andrea End and performer Jessica Tse, and will feature local filmmaker Sean Cisterna, winner of the 2016 Creative Laureate Award.

Film Premiere - Celebrated Stories: Cultural Icons
The 2017 Celebrated Stories: Cultural Icons project is a series of 3 short films directed by local filmmaker Sean Cisterna that explore the life of a Richmond Hill Cultural Icon and their relationship to Richmond Hill. In 2017, the Celebrated Stories will profile acclaimed television, film, and stage actor R.H. Thomson, celebrated Canadian author Farley Mowat, and three-time World Champion and two-time Olympic silver medalist, Elvis Stojko.

Visual Art Gallery
Looking for new piece of art for your walls? Richmond Hill is home to many talented visual artists. Check out their work at our Cultural Summit Visual Art Gallery.The Cultural Summit will also feature live painting demonstration by Mary Morganelli.

Community Art Organizations
Richmond Hill-based community art organizations will be in attendance to provide information on programs, events and how you can get involved. There will be and exciting mix of organizations at the Summit, including Chorus York, Richmond Hill Group of Artists, The Curtain Club, Spinners and Weavers Guild, Making Connections - Storytelling York Region and many more!

Richmond Hill Cultural Projects
The Cultural Plan was developed following extensive community consultations. The Cultural Summit will highlight 2016 and 2017 Cultural Plan projects and activities that support culture in Richmond Hill.
