Although “ufologists” and science fiction writers might have you believing otherwise, Astronomers just last year discovered the very first-known object coming from beyond our own Solar System. We’re pretty sure this newly-found object is an interstellar asteroid. But it’s interesting to note that ʻOumuamua (meaning "first distant messenger" in Hawaiian) has a very long shape and a discovery story that’s remarkably similar to the alien spacecraft described in Arthur C. Clarke’s famous 1973 novel “Rendezvous with Rama”!
Join UofT astronomer Dr. Ian Shelton for a fun and informative talk about “Alien Asteroids”, followed by stargazing through the Great 74-inch telescope as weather permits.
