Deadline for nominations is September 4, 2020 at 2 p.m.
The City of Richmond Hill will begin accepting nominations for York Region District School Board (YRDSB) Trustee in Richmond Hill’s Wards 1, 2 and 4 on Monday, July 20, 2020.
A By-election will be held to fill this vacant position on Monday, October 19, 2020.
Elected by residents, the Trustee is guided by the Education Act and responsible for helping set operational policies for all public schools in York Region.
The current term will end November 2022.
To run for office as a School Board Trustee, a candidate must be:
- a Canadian citizen
- at least 18 years of age
- a resident in the area of jurisdiction of the board (York Region)
Candidates will be disqualified if they are an employee of any school board or if any legislation prevents them from holding a School Board Trustee office. Potential candidates should carefully review the full eligibility requirements and nomination information at RichmondHillca/RHVotes before submitting their nomination.
To file a nomination, eligible candidates must call 905-747-6541 or email [email protected] to make an appointment with the Office of the City Clerk at Richmond Hill’s Municipal Offices (225 East Beaver Creek Road).
Completed forms can be filled in and printed before the scheduled meeting, but should only be signed at the meeting.
At the time of filing, all candidates must submit a completed nomination form, the declaration of qualification and pay the prescribed filing fee of $100.
