Richmond Hill Council voted to proceed with a By-election, rather than an appointment, for the vacant Mayor’s position, following the retirement of former Mayor Dave Barrow.
The City of Richmond Hill will begin accepting nominations for Mayor on Friday, October 15.
Elected by eligible voters, the Mayor will act as chief executive officer of the municipality, preside over Council meetings, represent Richmond Hill at official functions and provide leadership as the head of Council.

Nominations will be accepted until 2 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021.
The By-election will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022.
On-line voting will be available January 18th to January 24th. In person voting will be also be available Saturday January 22 to Monday, January 24, 2022.

The current term of council will end November 14, 2021.
The next muncipal election for all of council will be October 24, 2022.
