The Richmond Hill Lawn Bowling Club Makes Plans to Give Back to the Community

less than 1 minute

Following a very successful 100th Anniversary event in 2018, the Richmond Hill Lawn Bowling Club (RHLBC) is planning another exciting event – this time in partnership with a local not-for-profit charitable organization called Home on the Hill.  Together, they are organizing a fundraiser to take place on Sunday July 7, 2019, called “Lawn Bowl with a Goal”.

Funds raised will help Home on the Hill provide much-needed services to individuals and families experiencing serious mental health challenges. Without treatment and support, these persons are often homeless, find it impossible to find and keep jobs, and often end up in jail. As per the Auditor General, about 2.5 % of the population (in other words, in excess of 5,000 affected persons in Richmond Hill) are not getting the services they need.

"We are happy to be in a position to give back to the community” noted Terry Knight, RHLBC President.  “What better way to do that than by introducing people to the sport of lawn bowling?,, " she said.

Sixteen teams of new lawn bowlers, with the help of some experienced bowlers, will play an eight-end game at the Richmond Hill Club. Funds will be raised through team entry fees, sponsorships, the sale of beer and wine, and a silent auction.  Plans are underway to make this a memorable event!
