"Stitched Identities - an Exhibit at the Central Library's Glass Case Gallery

June 5th to August 24th, 2025

Faseeh Saleem’s site-specific installation “Stitched Identities” integrates sensory experience and autobiographical reflection through alternative methods of artistic creation.

Beginning with sketching while blindfolded and thus removing sight as the primary sense, the work explores how touch, movement, and material engagement reshape the act of making. It invites viewers to consider how identity is formed through the silent dialogues between memory, material, and movement.

The artistic outputs propose an embodied way of creating—where making becomes an act of self-discovery, resilience, and quiet resistance.

Faseeh Saleem (he/him) is a Pakistani-Canadian multidisciplinary research practitioner in art and design. His Ph.D. research explores conceptions of the body and challenges conventional methods in art and design processes to open up alternative bodies as a methodological foundation. Faseeh’s research practice spans material exploration through installation, sculpture, video, and performance, and has been exhibited internationally, including at The Textile Museum of Borås (Sweden), Artlab Gallery at Western University, London (Canada), the 1st International Art Triennial (Lithuania), designtransfer at Berlin University of the Arts (Germany), KHOJ Studios (India), Cumulus 2016 (Hong Kong), and Alhamra Art Center (Pakistan).
