CMHA-York & SS is leading a community action table (Click HERE for the map.CAT) in Richmond Hill on behalf of the Region of York.
The CAT will be established to plan and implement a community safety and wellness strategy in partnership with the Region of York. Community safety and well-being (CSWB) planning aims to leverage existing community assets to address top risk factors and identify opportunities to attract or develop new resources. Mental health and housing were the top risk factors for this area.
The Region has taken a placed based approach, and a specific Richmond Hill neighborhood will be targeted:
South of Elgin Mills, north of 16th Ave, west of Bayview and East of Yonge. Click HERE for the map.
• Strengthen local capacity for community-based planning by convening a broad cross section of community stakeholders
• Seek opportunities to build relationships and partnerships that leverage existing community and regional assets and initiatives
• Identify and advocate for additional resources to enhance service capacity or address service gaps in implementing actions set out in action plans
• Drive local safety and well-being planning through a lens of upstream social development and prevention by addressing identified risk factors with local community perspectives and knowledge
