BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! In May a food drive was held in the southwest corner of Richmond Hill, organized by Craig Callan, with word spread through the Neighbourhood Watch organization. Now a second food drive is being organized for the same location. The Richmond Hill Community Food Bank van will be parked on Mayvern Cres, between Drumern and Sanderson this Saturday, June 20 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. to accept donations.
“We as a community came together on May 16 and had a very successful food drive,” says Mr. Callan. “On behalf of the Richmond Hill Food Bank and myself we would like to again thank you for your donations. We were able to raise over just over 1,200 pounds of grocery items and $1,050 in donations. Our incredible community helped 1,164 people in need during the month of May. Bravo! Many of you had asked if we could have another drive in June, so we have scheduled a food drive for Saturday, June 20.”
As well, three members of the community will sell lined cotton masks for $5 each during the food drive. These fabric masks are reusable, washable and will be individually packaged. All monies generated will be donated to the Richmond Hill Food Bank.
“Your donations will be greatly appreciated by families who are in need. Please invite your family and friends to participate in this event. If you have any questions, please e-mail me at [email protected].”
