York Region is conducting an Environmental Assessment (EA) Study for the extension of Red Cedar/Cedar Avenue from Langstaff Road East to High Tech Road in the City of Richmond Hill and City of Markham.
They want feedback.
This study is building on recommendations in York Region’s 2016 Transportation Master Plan which identified a new road linking the Langstaff Gateway and Richmond Hill Centre communities by connecting Red Cedar Avenue to Cedar Avenue to support the planned growth in these areas.
At this open house meet the project team, review the recommended plan and share your experiences. T
Visit anytime between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The study began in April 2019 as a Schedule ‘B’ EA and is now being conducted as a Schedule ‘C’ EA.
As the study progressed, the project team identified additional infrastructure requirements to support the recommendations.
A change from a Schedule ‘B’ to a Schedule ‘C’ EA is required to address the proposed recommendations.
The proposed road improvements for Red Cedar/Cedar Avenue include:
- Constructing one lane in each direction with a centre left-turn lane
- Installing tra_ c control signals at High Tech Road and at Langstaff Road
- Installing sidewalks and cycle tracks
- Providing streetscaping
