The Richmond Hill Lawn Bowling Club (RHLBC) is proud to announce that the Club has been chosen to co-host the Ontario Lawn Bowls Association (OLBA) Novice Singles Championship in 2019!
Given that two greens are required, this two-day event will be shared with the Stouffville Lawn Bowling Club.
Sixteen women and sixteen men representing each of the districts in the province will compete for the right to call themselves Provincial Novice Singles Women’s or Men’s Champion.
On Friday, September 20th, the Novice bowlers (with five years of experience or less), representing their own districts within the province will all be provided practice time - female competitors at RHLBC and male competitors at Stouffville. They will all compete on Saturday September 21st – the Novice men at the Stouffville club and the Novice women at the RHLBC club. Eight of the Novice men and eight of the Novice women will go on to compete in their respective playoff games on September 22nd at the Richmond Hill club.
Members of the RHLBC are excited about this opportunity! Club President, Terry Knight commented that “only clubs with good greens are suitable for a provincial championship”. RHLBC has never hosted a provincial event before. RHLBC Greenskeeper Ted Pickles is also enthusiastic. “We plan to provide a fast, smooth and true green for these elite players.”
Spectators are welcome!
