We are in the year 2019 and stigma remains one of the biggest barriers to attaining health and wellness for people living with HIV/AIDS.
This World AIDS Day, we invite York Region’s community members to join us for Courageous Conversations to challenge the prevalent stigma against HIV/AIDS.
We will also shine light on the multiple intersections of stigma and shame as it relates to substance use, race, gender, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
We will explore how these layers of discrimination impact community health.
The late afternoon will also feature performances, commemorative messages, and a candlelight vigil honouring people living with and impacted by HIV/AIDS across the globe.
