The first major wave of Slovak immigrants came to Canada in the early 1800s as pioneers to work the land, railroads and mines. They integrated well into Canadian society and many of their descendants became prominent figures in many areas of Canadian life. This exhibit looks at why they left their beloved homeland and the great contributions they made to Canada.
This exhibit is on loan from the Slovak Canadian Heritage Museum.
