The Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities, Sean Fraser and MPs Majid Jowhari and Leah Taylor Roy made an announcement at the Richmond Hill City Hall Thursday November 27th, 2023.

Richmond Hill is receiving a $31 million investment from the Federal government that will help set the stage for more affordable housing options in our city.

"We are in a housing crisis and we need to take bold action now. Although as a municipality we don’t build the homes, with the Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF), we now have access to more ways to encourage owners and builders to create affordable homes. This funding will help remove barriers and speed up the process of bringing more housing for people here in Richmond Hill and it will bring us closer to creating new affordable residential units by advancing infrastructure that unlocks residential development.", said Mayor David West.

This Housing Accelerator Fund is one step toward solving the housing crisis.
