Dr. Mike Daley Presents: The Bob Dylan Story

Event Date:
Sunday, April 7, 2024 - 3:00pm to 4:30pm

Bob Dylan is a living legend. When he burst onto the folk music scene in the early 1960s with instant classics like "Blowin' In The Wind" and "Mr. Tambourine Man," he quickly rose to the top of the folk pantheon. He is the premier lyricist of our time, with a body of work spanning sixty years and millions of records sold. When Dylan 'went electric' in 1965 and released the world-beating "Like A Rolling Stone," he gave rock music a brain. Dylan continued to evolve through the following decades, from country-rock like "Lay Lady Lay" to the complex introspection of "Tangled Up In Blue." In the last three decades Dylan has toured almost every year and continues to be a vital performer and songwriter at 82.

Dr. Mike Daley Presents: The Bob Dylan Story is a lecture-concert celebrating Bob Dylan's life and music, featuring Mike on guitar and vocals and Jill Daley on piano and violin with Greg Wyard on bass and backing vocals.

You'll learn about Dylan's life story, from his Minnesota upbringing to his early years in Greenwich Village. From his emergence as the great young hope of New Left folkies to his seeming betrayal of that scene at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. We'll take you through the twists and turns of Dylan's outstanding career, right up to his latest album. Along the way, you'll hear expertly rendered acoustic renditions of some of Dylan's greatest songs. The latest in a monthly series that has included lecture-concerts on Simon and Garfunkel, Carole King and Gordon Lightfoot, Dr. Mike Daley Presents: The Bob Dylan Story is a must-see for any music fan.

Dr. Mike Daley is a musician and music historian known across the GTA for his highly entertaining and informative talks on popular music. Jill Daley is a full-time musician at Canada's National Ballet School. Greg Wyard is a respected Toronto bassist with several original albums to his credit and a strong following as the GTA's premier solo singer/guitarist.
