The Salvation Army ministry unit in Richmond Hill is having its annual back-to-school drive kids of low-income families. The goal is to give about 250 children a new backpack and lunch bag.
Donations are to be taken to 588 Edward Ave, Unit 29 Tuesday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Aug. 1 to Aug. 31.
The distribution dates are Aug. 15 to Aug. 27.
“The children who have been learning remotely in the past, and those new to Canada, need the gift of supplies to give them a fresh start and a fun new beginning to this school year,” said Mary Halbert, the Salvation Army's community and family services co-ordinator.
The drive is looking for
- new or not noticeably ued new backpacks and lunch bags for kids in JK to Grade 12
- calculators
- math sets
- packs of pencil crayons and sharpeners.
Monetary donations by cash, cheque, debit cards are also welcome.
