Emancipation Day

Emancipation Day marks the abolition of slavery in the British Empire on Aug. 1, 1834.

Attend and recognize the enduring legacy and contributions of Black Canadians and reflect on our shared journey toward equity and justice.

Hosted by poet and author Nadine Williams, this event will feature a traditional drum call by Vincent Annowie, a recital of the Black National Anthem by Imani James and a keynote Address by Dr. Jeffrey Thompson.
