In honour of Black History Month, Krasman Centre is pleased to host guest speaker Asante Haughton for a presentation on Black Mental Health, Cultural Competency, and Allyship. This virtual presentation will draw from lived experience, professional experiences, and research to explore:
- Black and BIPOC mental health and intersectionality
- Cultural competency in service delivery, why we need it and how we can achieve it
- Strategies for effective allyship
Particular emphasis will be given to the impact of social determinants of health as well as how service providers can create safety with clients to build therapeutic rapport and thus increase the likelihood of positive outcomes.
After completing his presentation, Asante will engage in a welcoming and a robust Q&A session, where everyone can collaboratively ask questions and brainstorm ideas for successful results with those they serve.
