Emancipation Day commemorates the abolition of slavery across the British Empire in 1834, and provides an opportunity to reflect on our shared history while recognizing the enduring legacy, resilience, and contributions of Black Canadians.
Join Richmond Hill Public Library and the York Region Alliance of African Canadian Communities (YRAACC) for a community commemoration featuring music and remarks as we honour this important day and reaffirm our collective commitment to equity, inclusion, and justice.
