Summer is here, and the RHCC Community Garden Team is inviting community-minded volunteers to join them for one of their favourite local initiatives: the RHCC Community Garden.
Located in Sussex Park, the garden provides fresh produce for families in our community while creating opportunities for neighbours to connect, learn, and grow together.
After a record-breaking planting day, the garden is thriving—but now they need volunteers to help care for it throughout the summer months.
They are looking for individuals, couples, families, retirees, students, and anyone who enjoys spending time outdoors to join one of the weekly Garden Teams.
Volunteer Times
- Monday–Thursday
- 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Volunteers help with:
- Watering
- Weeding
- Harvesting
- General garden maintenance
- Connecting with fellow volunteers and community members
No gardening experience is required. Whether you've been gardening for years or have never planted a seed, they will provide guidance and support.
What makes this opportunity special is that it's about more than growing vegetables. It's about building community. Over the years, the garden has become a place where neighbours meet, friendships develop, skills are shared, and people work together toward a common goal.
They are hoping volunteers can commit to one evening per week throughout the growing season, helping us create consistent teams and ensure the garden continues to flourish.
