A zoning by-law implements a municipality’s official plan and regulates land use and development, such as where buildings can be built, how they generally look like, how tall they can be, how close they are to the street, how much parking or landscaping is needed, the type of uses on a property, and many other development requirements that are important to everyone in the city.
