Forster Collective Garden (FCG) has a few garden plots available this year for those interested in growing delicious vegetables in an organic and sustainable way.
It's a great space for beginners and experienced gardeners alike, as you can learn and share advice about gardening as well as seeds and seedlings.
Each member has their own plot and they also commit to a few hours a month towards the communal areas and work in the Donation Garden, dedicated to growing food for the Richmond Hill Community Food Bank.
FCG Members are responsible for maintaining their personal garden plot throughout the season, including watering, pruning, weeding, harvesting and organic pest and/or disease control as required.
The City of Richmond Hill provides us with well water access, disposal bins, bulk wood chips and leaves at no charge to our members.
There are a very limited number of spaces and you can select the size that fits your needs:
- Full Plot: measures 20 x 20 feet with an annual fee of $80.
- Half Plot: measures 10 x 20 feet with an annual fee of $40.
- Quarter Plot: measures 10 x 10 feet with an annual fee of $20.
The Garden is located at the Phyllis Rawlinson Park in a lovely spot near the back by the heritage Forster Farmhouse and barns.
