Their Clubhouse may be being raised but there's nothing 'Up in the Air' about the Richmond Hill Lawn Bowling Club

less than 1 minute

The future of the Richmond Hill Lawn Bowling Club looks very good, thanks to returning to pre-Covid membership numbers and  funding to repair the clubhouse foundation!

Johnston House Raising and Moving have been hired to raise the clubhouse up so that helical piles can be installed underneath to replace the one hundred year old foundation pillars.

This project, which will take a few weeks, is expected to be done in time for the 2023 season.  Members of the Club are excited to get this work done.  The fact that the clubhouse is sinking (it’s 100 years old) has been a source of discussion at the Club for a long time.  The process is fascinating! Who knew that a building could be raised eight feet in the air in order for work to be done underneath! The lifting process is very slow and steady –  you are invited to come by to check it out (from a safe distance, of course).

The lawn bowling club is located next to the City tennis courts, just down the street from the Elgin Barrow Arena, if you’re curious.
