Used Shoes Donation for East Africa is organized by the Used Shoes Save Life Step 30 International Foundation, in collaboration with the Fountain of Life Christian Church and various churches in Toronto. Additionally, PCA and Forgotten People Connection Charity are also participating in this charitable endeavor.
The goal is to collect 30,000 pairs of used shoes to send to Kenya by August.
Background:
In remote areas of East Africa, the parasitic "sand fleas" are prevalent and walking barefoot can lead to serious infections such as skin ulcers, amputations, and death. In these impoverished areas, with an average daily income of only $2, many people cannot afford proper shoes. The 30th Step medical team will distribute the donated shoes to combat sand flea infestations and prevent secondary health complications.
- Accepted types: Sneakers, fabric Shoes, covered shoes, canvas shoes, flats, and low heels
- Not Accepted types: Slippers, high heels, platform shoes, long boots, snow boots, sandals, crocs, plastic shoes, sports sandals, short rain boots, roller blades.
There will also be a collection on the following Saturday. July 13th, 9:30 to 1:30
